Falling Into Book Design

One of the great things that came out of a quiet, COVID year, was my first cover-to-cover book design, Falling Into Flowers. I couldn’t say no to designing pages packed with type, and gorgeous, wedding floral photography. Working with author and wedding floral designer Alison Ellis was—to say the least—inspiring. She delivered piles of stunning photos of her beautiful floral work by professional wedding photographers.

Laura Worthington’s Al Fresco font worked perfectly for the script display type, paired with the modern and ever-popular Neutra Display. I had previously fallen in love with Jan Fromm’s Rooney font since I saw it in Jan Middendorp’s Shaping Text book, and it was perfect for a more modern and friendly feel for the text type, yet still legible for long chapters.

It turns out that one book leads to another, so stay tuned for more book design obsessions!
